On April 6 at 7pm the Cortlandt Planning Board will continue the public hearing via zoom regarding a proposed 92 bed facility that will operate 24 hours a day with 86 staff members. The location of the project is 2016 Quaker Ridge Road. You do NOT need to be a Cortlandt resident to be heard at this meeting.
The good news is that we will be the first public hearing on the agenda. To be heard at the meeting just raise your hand virtually on the Zoom platform.
If you would like to speak, we encourage you to:
- Provide your name, address and a short statement on why you moved/reside in the Greater Teatown area.
- Focus comments on what matters to the Planning Board: how this development will impact your quality of life. For example, do you walk or run on the local roads (the applicant has stated that the local roads have a low recreational use – I know, I could not believe that either!) Other topics that the Board can consider are changes in the type and timing of traffic, noise, water use, lighting, impact on wildlife. Also, how will the just discovered easement from the applicant’s property onto Quaker Hill Drive impact you and our community overall (for example, are you concerned the easement might be used for additional pedestrian and/or vehicular access to Quaker Hill Drive? The applicant has not explained the purpose of the easement).
- Realize that neither the Board nor the applicant will answer questions – the Board wants the applicant to respond in writing.
